Add refund and shipping policies

Shoppers often check return and delivery terms before buying, especially for clothing. Your store has privacy and terms policies set but no refund or shipping policy yet. Adding both could give buyers more confidence at checkout.

Let me take you to the Policies settings where we can add both policies using Shopify's templates!

Here's how to get started — head to your Policies settings and you'll find template buttons for both your Refund and Shipping policies right there:

Navigate to Policies settings

Once you're there, here's what to do:

For your Refund Policy, click "Create from template" and then customize these key details for your apparel store:

Return window — a common choice is 30 days from delivery

Item condition — specify unworn, unwashed, with tags attached (important for clothing!)

Who pays return shipping — you can have customers cover it, or offer free returns for a premium feel

Exchanges — mention if you offer size exchanges

For your Shipping Policy, click "Create from template" and update it to reflect your actual rates:

US Standard shipping: $8

Free shipping on orders over $70

Estimated delivery timeframes

Once both are saved, Shopify will automatically display them at checkout. You'll also want to add links to both in your footer navigation so shoppers can find them easily — just let me know and I can help with that next!

Heads up: These templates are a great starting point, but review the final wording to make sure it accurately reflects your store's practices. For anything legally sensitive, a quick check with a professional is always a good idea.

I'd love to help! Could you tell me a bit more about what you'd like to fix? For example, are you running into a specific issue, or is there something about your store's design, products, settings, or policies you'd like to improve?

Sure, let me take a look at a few key areas of your store!

1 step completed

Here's a quick health check of your store, Staci:

✅ Looking good:

3,379 active products — sampled products all have prices, descriptions, and images

No unfulfilled orders — you're all caught up

Store is live — stacisstore.com is up with no password protection

⚠️ Things to address:

Missing Refund & Shipping Policies — You have a privacy policy and terms of service, but no refund or shipping policy. These show up at checkout and build buyer trust, especially important for apparel. We were just working on this — I can take you to Settings > Policies to add them using Shopify's templates.

Suspicious automatic discount — There's an active automatic discount called "Lookfy Gallery DF (DO NOT DELETE)" that's been running since 2022 with 0 uses. This looks like it may have been created by an app. It's worth reviewing — if you're not using Lookfy Gallery, you may want to deactivate or delete it.

Would you like to tackle the policies first, or investigate that discount? I'm happy to help with either!

Here's the link to your Policies settings — once you're there, click "Create from template" for both the Refund and Shipping policies:

Navigate to Policies settings

Quick reminder of what to customize:

Refund Policy:

Return window (e.g., 30 days from delivery)

Item condition (unworn, unwashed, tags attached — key for clothing!)

Who pays return shipping

Whether you offer exchanges

Shipping Policy:

US Standard: $8

Free shipping over $70

Estimated delivery timeframes

Once you've saved both, come back and I can help you add them to your footer navigation so shoppers can easily find them! 🎉

Great progress — I can see you've already published your Refund policy and Contact information! 🎉

On your question: a VAT number (Value Added Tax) is a tax identification number used in many countries (mainly in Europe and other regions) for businesses that collect VAT from customers. Since your store is US-based, you generally won't need one unless you're selling to customers in VAT-required countries like those in the EU or UK.

A trade number (sometimes called a business registration number or EIN in the US) is a government-issued ID for your business entity — used for tax filing and legal purposes.

For your store right now, these are likely showing up in the Contact Information template as optional fields. Since you're selling domestically in the US, you can simply leave them blank if they don't apply to you.

Now, I noticed your Shipping Policy still shows as not set. Would you like help adding that next? It looks like there's no template available for it, so I can help you draft some wording based on your actual rates (US Standard $8, free over $70).

Here's a shipping policy you can copy and paste directly into the Shipping Policy field — just click "Shipping policy" on the page, paste this in, and hit Save:
